We  invites artists, collectives, and researchers, to contribute to three exhibitions that explore water as a force of transformation, crisis, and renewal. We welcome finished pieces and works in production across disciplines, including but not limited to installation, performance, sound, photography, video, participatory projects, educational settings, ice-skating and text-based works.

The exhibition of FLUTEN is separated into three acts: BEFORE, DURING and AFTER THE FLOOD and is accompanied by workshops, lectures, assemblies and other events.

AKT 2: WÄHREND DER FLUT – Water, Waste and Weakness

Ein Grollen unklarer Herkunft, ein Tosen von unvorstellbarer Lautstärke, Angst, Hilflosigkeit, Orientierungslosigkeit - letztlich der Verlust des eigenen Haltes. Ein Gemisch aus Wasser, Schlamm, Geröll und Fragmenten der Zivilisation breitet sich vor uns in der Landschaft aus, überwältigt uns und zieht uns unter sich. Der Versuch, festen Boden zu finden, scheitert, denn alles - Häuser, Bäume, Autos, Menschen und Tiere - wird mitgerissen. Flucht ist zwecklos - kein Raum für Poesie, keine Zeit für Gebete. Ein Versinken, ein Wiederauftauchen, die Schreie verstummen - was bleibt, sind das Tosen und die Trümmer ... und die Stille, die folgt. Die Ausstellung „Act Two: During the Flood - Water, Waste, and Weakness“ versucht, den Verlust der Kontrolle und das Gefühl der Ohnmacht einzufangen. Eine Flut von sich überlagernden Sinneseindrücken macht die Orientierung zunächst unmöglich. Fotografie, Videokunst, Klangcollagen, Installationen und Objekte verschmelzen zu einer immersiven, allumfassenden Komposition. Die Ausstellung greift nicht nur den wörtlichen Begriff der Sintflut auf, sondern übersetzt ihn auch metaphorisch und reflektiert den Zustand unserer Informationsgesellschaft zwischen Turbokapitalismus und Selbstoptimierung.

Water, Waste, and Weakness Venue: Eigenheim Weimar A rumble of unclear origin, a roar of unimaginable volume, fear, helplessness, disorientation—ultimately, the loss of one’s own footing. A mixture of water, mud, debris, and fragments of civilization spreads across the landscape before us, overwhelms us, and pulls us under. The attempt to find solid ground fails, as everything—houses, trees, cars, humans, and animals alike—is swept away. Escape is futile—no space for poetry, no time for prayer. A sinking, a resurfacing, the screams fall silent—what remains is the roar and the rubble … and the silence that follows. The exhibition “Act Two: During the Flood - Water, Waste, and Weakness” seeks to capture the loss of control and the feeling of powerlessness. A flood of overlapping sensory impressions makes orientation impossible at first. Photography, video art, sound collages, installations, and objects merge into an immersive, all-encompassing composition. The exhibition does not only address the literal concept of a Sintflut(deluge) but also translates it metaphorically, reflecting the state of our information society caught between turbo-capitalism and self-optimization.

AkT 3: Nach Der Flut – Permeable Learnscapes

Permeable Learnscapes ist eine temporäre Zone für kollektives Lernen und Verlernen, in der der Rhythmus der Gezeiten unsere Auseinandersetzung mit der Umwelt und mit anderen Menschen bestimmt. Geprägt von der transfigurativen Landschaft eines Feuchtgebietes, entfaltet sich diese Ausstellung in einem fließenden Austausch: Wir denken unter Wasser und arbeiten mit den Strömungen. Während der gesamten Dauer der Überschwemmung lernen, schaffen und widerstehen wir gemeinsam, schaffen neue Strukturen der Emanzipation und bauen affektive Netzwerke auf, die uns eine Zukunft vor Augen führen, in der wir uns durch einen gemeinsamen Kampf wieder mit der Umwelt verbinden können. Die hier vorgestellten Arbeiten bieten Methoden, die in der Gemeinschaft, der Zusammenarbeit und der Fürsorge verwurzelt sind, und fungieren als eine Anthologie möglicher Wege, wie wir uns an die kommenden Horizonte des Klimakollapses anpassen und eine Existenz mit den Schwierigkeiten versuchen können. Mit spekulativen Werkzeugen multidisziplinärer Natur versuchen wir, die kognitive Gewalt, die aquatisches Wissen übersieht, zu demontieren und die koloniale Amnesie, die uns von unseren wässrigen Verwandten trennt, in Frage zu stellen, indem wir neue Wege der Beziehung zu unseren postnatürlichen Ökosystemen vorschlagen. Wenn die Flut zurückgeht, müssen wir unsere Beziehung zur Welt in einer Schule, die ständig ertrinkt, neu gestalten und uns nicht nur das Überleben, sondern auch eine radikale Veränderung vorstellen.

Permeable Learnscapes Venue: E-Werk Weimar Permeable Learnscapes is a temporary zone for collective learning and unlearning, where the rhythm of the tides frames our engagement with both the environment and one another. Shaped by the transfigurative landscape of a wetland, this exhibition unfolds in a fluid exchange: we think underwater and work with the currents. Throughout the temporality of the flood, we learn, create, and resist together, crafting new structures of emancipation, and building affective networks that reimagine a future in which we can reconnect with the environment through a shared struggle. The works presented here offer methodologies rooted in community, collaboration, and care, acting as an anthology for possible ways in which we might adapt to incoming horizons of climate collapse and attempt an existence with the trouble. Engaging with speculative tools of a multidisciplinary nature, we seek to dismantle the cognitive violence that overlooks aquatic knowledge and challenge the colonial amnesia that separates us from our watery kinships, proposing new ways of relating to our post-natural ecosystems. As the tide recedes, we are left to reframe our relationship with the world in a school that constantly drowns and pushes us to imagine not only survival but radical transformation.

What we offer?

Selected works will be exhibited for approximately four weeks in October 2025. FLUTEN covers production and transportation costs. Projects that require artists to be on-site will be supported with travel and accommodation costs.

There is no entitlement to acceptance in the exhibitions.
